Huge thanks to ElevenLabs for generously providing ‘Pro’ subscriptions of ElevenLabs voices to individuals with ALS/MND, as well as Jabbla for their ElevenLabs instructions and images.
1) Built-in ElevenLabs integration has been added to Mind Express 5 with the software update 5.5.0.1276 (and newer). Mind Express 5 users can also request for a free Elevenlabs Pro license with their valid Mind Express 5 license. First you will need to sign into your ElevenLabs account, if you don't already have one create one
here.
2) To apply for the free ElevenLabs Pro license click the account dropdown at the top right then click "Apply for Impact Program".
3) Fill in your information and be sure to select Jabbla for the "Partner" dropdown menu and hit the continue button.
4) To complete the verification application, follow the email instructions carefully and be sure to include your Mind Express serial number in the provided email template. After you send the email with all the necessary information, click on the green "DONE - I've Sent the Email" button.
To note, your application may take up to 5 business days to be approved.
5) In the meantime you can continue on with the setup to link your ElevenLabs account with Mind Express. At the very bottom of the left side menu, click on Developer then API Keys.
6) Click on the Create Key button and give it a suitable name such as Mind Express.
7) Make sure that "Restrict Key" is turned on and configure the following settings:
- Text to Speech set to Access
- Voices set to Read
- Models set to Access
- User set to Read
These settings are required to configure otherwise your ElevenLabs voice won't work, click on the Create Key button then the Copy to Clipboard button.
8) Open up Mind Express 5 and navigate to the ElevenLabs settings by clicking Menu > Settings > Speech and Language. Paste the API Key you just copied into the "ElevenLabs authorization key" textbox and confirm by clicking the import button located to the right of the textbox.
9) You will see a pop-up confirming a number of voices have been added and now you should be able to select them from the Voice dropdown menu.
